Charlie Melancon Statement on “Energy Week”

“Following the Biden administration’s LNG moratorium, we encourage the House of Representatives to pass common-sense legislation this ‘Energy Week’ which strengthens our economy, while bolstering domestic energy production and exports abroad.

H. Res 987 (118) from Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-Wash) rightfully denounces the Biden administration’s anti-energy policies which increases the cost of energy for domestic consumers, hampers domestic energy production, and increases reliance on foreign adversaries for our energy needs.

While the United States became the global leader in liquefied natural gas exports for the first time in 2023, the Biden administration announced guidance in January 2024 that would suspend approvals for liquefied natural gas export facilities.

Our leaders should reverse the LNG moratorium and prioritize policies supportive of domestic energy production and exports to our allies overseas.” -Charlie Melancon, Former U.S. Representative (LA-3), Former Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and Spokesperson for Louisiana Energy Export Partners.
